Speaking 1 Topic: Physical exercise required as part of school day or not?

Some people say that physical exercise should be a required part of every school day. Other people believe that students should spend the whole school day on academic studies. Which opinion do you agree with? Use specific reasons and details to support your answer.

In the 15 seconds I have for note-taking, here’s what I will jot down:

  1. Required
  2. Improved mental clarity
  3. Health
  4. Example - grade 7

Here’s my detailed response:

I certainly believe that physical exercise should be a required part of every school day. First, research has shown without doubt that physical exercise improves mental clarity. A session of exercise in the morning helps students focus on their studies throughout the day. Also, by exercising in the morning, students will see a phenomenal improvement in their health. I remember that until Grade 6, I was an average performer in school. I was under no pressure to perform better, either from my parents or due to peer pressure. However, I noticed that my grades dramatically improved in Grade 7. I had signed up for volleyball classes that year and this helped me focus better in school, sleep better, and do well in school.
