Speaking 1 Topic: Do you support risk-taking behavior or caution?

Some people enjoy taking risks and trying new things. Others are not adventurous; they are cautious and prefer to avoid danger. Which behavior do you think is better?

In the 15 seconds I have for note-taking, here's what I would jot down:

  1. Trying new things
  2. Reason 1 - Learning
  3. Reason 2 - Progress
  4. Example - Moving to another city

Here's my response:

I've always believed that a person needs to try out new things and take a few risks. When we explore new avenues and take some chances, we learn faster through trial-and-error. Also, to progress in life, it's important to get out of one's comfort zone. This improves our risk-taking ability, which is important in leadership roles. Let me elaborate with an example. I had two close friends in school. One was very cautious by nature and the other was adventurous right from early childhood. When there was an opportunity to travel to a different city for a new job, my adventurous friend decided to move right away, while my other friend decided to stay back. Today, the friend who decided to step out of her comfort zone is in a role where she leads almost 500 people located in various parts of the country.
