Speaking 1 Topic: Prefer deadlines or no time pressure?

Some people feel they perform better when they have to finish work by a specific time. Others feel they do better work if they do not have time pressure. Which best describes you? Explain why.

In the 15 seconds I have for note-taking, here’s what I would jot down:

  1. Deadline
  2. Reason 1 - work expands with time
  3. Reason 2 - commitment
  4. Essay in exam

I certainly perform better when there is a deadline involved. In my opinion, work expands with time. The more time we have, the more effort we spend in producing the same output. Further, when there is a commitment I’ve made, I take all efforts to ensure that I honor that commitment. I remember a language examination I took in secondary school. I had just 30 minutes to complete a 500-word essay on the benefits of technology in the space of agriculture. I managed to finish the essay to my satisfaction within 30 minutes. However, a few weeks later, when I attempted to write an essay on a similar topic, it took me nearly five hours to complete it.
